Bigger Jugs is a trading name for Bigger Trading Ltd which sells home brew equipment and supplies. Since swapping its bricks-and-mortar business for an online store, owners Dave and Helen have achieved year-on-year growth selling mainly via their osCommerce store, and They came to Hallway wanting a design refresh, improved usability and consolidated reporting across its sales channels.

Improve Usability

The existing osCommerce store was difficult for customers to use. The checkout required too many steps and usability needed improving to drive more sales.


Integrate Multiple Channels

Sales from channels such as exhibitions, trade counters and Amazon channels also needed integrating within the e-commerce store.

After analysing several e-commerce platforms, Shopify was identified as the best option for Bigger Trading. Our in-house designers collaborated with site owners Dave and Helen to create a modern, fresh, fully responsive and integrated e-commerce solution. The site was optimised and tested on desktop, tablet and mobile to ensure compatibility across all customer devices.

Navigation Design

Hallway paid special attention to logically organising products and categories and optimising navigation design in response to feedback from multiple rounds of User Testing. This helped to create intuitive navigation across the site and remove barriers to online sales.

Shopify Setup & Customisation

Custom Shipping Rules

Hallway developed a custom shipping system to enhance Shopify's built-in shipping functionality. This allows Bigger Trading to specify shipping rules and rates based on postcode, product, country and basket value, helping to reduce shipping costs and improve margins.

Abandoned Checkout Recovery

To increase sales, Hallway created a bespoke email template that integrates directly with Shopify's checkout abandonment function. This feature automatically emails customers who partially complete the checkout process with a reminder of what is still in their cart, improving sales.
