Vincenzo and Gianni from Brewheadz join Andy Thorburn to discuss the story behind one of London’s newest breweries, the mistakes they’ve made and the lessons they’ve learned while entering a market with over 100 other brewers.
On this week’s episode, I talk to Vincenzo Conte and Gianni Rotunno, two of the four co-founders of Brewheadz, one of my favourite newcomers to London’s craft beer scene. I first met these guys at Craft Beer Rising earlier this year, and within minutes of chatting to them, I could feel the huge amount of passion they have for producing and experiencing great beer. I found their story intoxicating, one of how four friends moved from a tiny village in Italy to London in search of a better life, and in the process discovering a whole new world of beer. In their spare time, they ploughed their limited funds into their passion for homebrewing, trying to learn everything possible along the way. And when the time came all four of them gave up their apartments, moved into a one bedroom flat, and risked everything to open their own brewery. We talk about their journey, the mistakes they’ve made and the lessons they’ve learned while opening a brewery in a city with over 100 other brewers.
Passion can take you so far, but it takes a lot of courage and sacrifice to turn that passion into a business.
Make use of the community around you, 9 times out of 10 someone has the answer and is willing to help you out.
Focus on getting your product right, work on the recipe, the flavour but always stay true to yourself and what you’re trying to achieve.
